Fraud Prevention Associate researches and analyzes potential customer fraud cases to identify and prevent future fraud. Reviews and responds to suspected fraudulent service requests and identifies fraudulent transactions using various research methods. Being a Fraud Prevention Associate follows standard procedures to document a loss and prepares a summary and reconciliation. Communicates the status and resolution of the incident to the customer and/or bank. Additionally, Fraud Prevention Associate identifies areas that need increased security procedures or software to protect customer accounts. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Fraud Prevention Associate works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     As a Loss Prevention Auditor and Fraud Detection Analyst for Staples, you will conduct LP operational field audits remote, virtual and in person, within a base of 60 retail stores to ensure compliance to operational standards to drive operational excellence and preserve profitability. You will also train store managers on Key-Holder responsibilities, Inventory Control standards, Cash Office procedures, Protection Standards, Safety and Fraud trends.

    Audits, Investigations & Reporting:

    • Execute LP audits within a 60 retail store base to understand the respective stores procedural compliance levels: Meet or exceed audit frequency standards including operational audits twice annually, MPP Audits twice annually, Safety. EAS and Target Reviews as needed.
    • Support the Field LP Team and Store teams through financial, POS Exception, Investigations and audit analysis. Utilize Cams to Analyze audit results and provide reporting to all partners.
    • Utilize the web application, to determine underperforming trends and educate Field Partners on best practices to drive operational excellence. Influence these partners to prioritize underperforming standards to maximize profitability and minimize exposure.
    • Utilize Agillence POS Exception reporting to identify and issue cases and identify shrink and margin opportunities for improvement. Participate in investigations from detection through the interview process to investigative conclusion.

    Training & Alarm Management:

    • Support the Field LP Team’s training strategy to store teams with OJT and Formal training including: Store managers, supervisors and associates promoted to managers on their role and responsibilities as Key Holders managing store assets, Inventory Control standards to maximize in-stock positions, Cash Office controls to mitigate losses and Fraud trends to minimize future losses.
    • Vendor permitting and fine processing: Foster and maintain relationships between municipalities and Staples to react and reconcile false alarm invoices charged to P&L’s using ePas and Vendor Setup.
    • Continued tracking of previous false alarms and permit renewals to eliminate additional fees and fines.

    Qualifications

    Essential skills and experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • 1-3 years of related experience
    • Expertise in Agilence or other exception-based reporting, CAMS and LPMS Incident systems.

    Preferred skills and experience:

    • Solution provider for underperforming standards by determining root cause of issue and deployment of corrective action
    • Knowledge of MS Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook. PowerPoint and Access
    • Expertise in Staplesconnect.com, Instacart, ePas and Vendor Setup a plus
    • Interview and interrogation formal training and skills
