Fraud Detection Supervisor supervises fraud detection associates in their effort to detect possible customer fraud. The Fraud Detection Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes.     Conexess Group is aiding a large healthcare client in their search for a Detection Engineer in a remote capacity. This is a long-term opportunity with a competitive compensation package.

    Responsibilities: The Detection Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing threat detection mechanisms using EDR tools such as Tanium/CrowdStrike and Splunk. The role requires a strong understanding of data management, security practices, and the ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets.

    • Work closely with IR, Hunt, Intel, Threat Hunt teams, review work intake and content that needs to be created or tune in EDR platforms (Tanium/CrowdStrike)
    • Develop detections for Windows, Linux
    • Create detections based on processes, malware analysis.
    • Transform SIGMA, YARA rules as needed.
    • Validate daily use cases and overall health of the system.
    • Demo detections that will be going into production weekly and explain reasoning behind them.
    • Focus on signature performance, maintenance, testing, and the overall lifecycle management of signatures. Tune false positives and create EDR security content (validate duplicates, retire, governance, documentation).
    • Tune/Create EDR content based on CVEs, APTs, TTPs.
    • Stay in tune with Cyber threat space (CVEs, APTs, TTPs)
    • 70% creating/tuning content base on system processes (must have expertise knowledge of this)
    • 20% Splunk detection engineering
    • 10% Documentation Qualifications:
    • 5 years' experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cybersecurity, and/or anomaly detection OR Master's Degree in Statistics, information systems or related.
    • 5 years working in computer security with a focus on network and enterprise defense.
    • 3 years of experience in crafting detections using static, dynamic, and hybrid detection engines, such as Yara, ClamAV, Suricata/Snort, Sigma, and Zeek.
    • 2 years working within the EDR
    • 2 years working with the MITRE
    • 2 years working with regular expressions

    Desired Skills & Experience

    • 3 years’ experience performing SOC analysis and/or incident response
    • 3-4 years parser development with regex experience
    • 2-3 years malware analysis
    • 1-2 years mentoring or leading others
    • 1-2 years automating with Python
    • 1-2 years working with a XSOAR platform
    • Manage change and demonstrate adaptability by adjusting priorities or processes and approaching as needs dictate.
    • Willingness to learn and quickly adapt to change
    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Security or similar discipline is preferred
    • Experience with a wide range of security products
    • Professional Certifications: GCIA, GCIH, GCFE, GCFA, Security , CCNA CyberOps, OSCP, GPEN, GWAPT, CEH, CISSP, Splunk Core Certified Advanced Power User, or other equivalent certifications are highly desirable.
    • Scripting (Python is preferred, but most any programming knowledge will be sufficient if engineer is willing to learn Python)
