Fraud Detection Associate monitors account activity to detect possible customer fraud. Performs analysis to identify possible front-end and/or back-end fraud. Being a Fraud Detection Associate identifies areas for increased security procedures and reports to fraud prevention associates. May contact customers to verify or explain unusual account activity. Additionally, Fraud Detection Associate requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Fraud Detection Associate possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. The person in this position will review and analyze fraud reports, risk alerts and various reports and systems to reduce the level of risk exposure to cardholders and the financial institution.
What You’ll Do- Assist members/branch/departments with fraud questions.
- Contact members to verify transactions that may possibly be fraud per the risk alerts received from card processor.
- Clear BSA alerts and create cases in fraud system.
- Work Fraud queues or emails to potential fraud alerts, scams, bad accounts, check, ACH etc.
- Research, review and write up Suspicious Activity reports.
- Work with Law Enforcement.
- Write and update fraud procedures.
- Collaborate within departments and other departments for fraud patterns.
- Assist on fraud related projects.
- Backup support to Card Services and ATM technical support.
- Assist in educating front line and back office on fraud trends.
- Understand the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering and how it is applied.

The experience you need to succeed:- One to two years similar or related experience.
- Must have a High School diploma, GED, or other equivalent.
- Experience in the financial industry is strongly preferred.
- A good working knowledge of accounting practices and principles.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Be proficient with business machinery and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Works in an office and field environment locations. This includes but is not limited to various outdoor and indoor climates, public venues, and driving conditions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly need to: see, talk, hear, and perform repetitive movements with arms, hands, and fingers to handle, feel, grasp and reach. A computer, phone -possibly including a smart phone, and standard office equipment are normal tools for this position. Specific vision abilities that may be required by this job include close vision and distance vision. The employee may at times also need to: climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
