Fire Inspector jobs in Montana

Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job.     Fire Extinguisher and Sprinkler Inspector

    The Fire Extinguisher and Sprinkler Inspector is responsible for performing scheduled or unscheduled maintenance on fire extinguishers in both residential and commercial spaces.

    Duties also include testing and inspection of fire sprinkler systems with knowledge of multiple manufacturers’ products.

    We have a need for a self-motivated, customer service-oriented Inspector with strong written and verbal communication skills.

    The Inspector will provide accurate and detailed inspections reports with all proper documentation of improvements and complications.

    The salary range for this position is $40k-$50k per year depending on experience.

    Job Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Two years of experience in the fire protection industry
    • Possess an understanding of NFPA and building and fire codes
    • Willing to communicate effectively; both verbally and written
    • Willing to pass a post-offer drug test and background check

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to lift up to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
    • Regular bending, reaching, climbing and walking

    Job Responsibilities

    • Responsible for operating with minimal supervision while performing fire protection inspections
    • Perform routine inspections, testing and services of life safety product lines
    • Daily communications with Project Manager and / or Schedule Coordinator on inspection or project delays, requirements and general status of job
    • Document time worked as well as all paperwork relating to assigned tasks in a timely manner
    • Work with Project Manager, Schedule Coordinator and Office Administrative Staff to ensure complete closeout and turnover of jobs to the client (Confirm that work is completed so it can be billed in full)
