Financial Assistant (Public) provides assistance to the Public Financial Associates. Assists in the financing of taxable and tax-exempt bonds. Being a Financial Assistant (Public) prepares business reports, proposals, and presentations. Coordinates meetings and communications between all parties involved with transactions. Additionally, Financial Assistant (Public) verifies compliance with NASD and other regulations and completes all required filings for a deal. Familiar with underwriting policies, practices, and regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Financial Assistant (Public) works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Qualification
An assistant federal public defender must be a graduate of an accredited law school. Requirements also include admission and in good standing before the federal bar, in combination with admission and good standing to the state bar.

The salary of an assistant federal public defender is commensurate with that of an assistant U.S. attorney with similar qualifications and experience.
The position is in the excepted service and does not carry the tenure rights of the competitive Civil Service. The position includes regular Government employment benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, and the Thrift Savings Plan.
