  • Job Summary

    The Financial Aid Coordinator supports the financial aid office at Millsaps College. The major areas of responsibility include providing administrative, technical, and advising support for the financial aid staff, students, and parents. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid.

    This position works on-site in Jackson, MS with regular office hours from 8:00am – 4:30pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch break.

    Job Duties

    • Manage all data transmissions with the Department of Education, including testing, interfacing with COD, ISIR processes, etc.
    • Monitor student loan applications, responding to variances as needed
    • Monitor and updates receipt of Direct Loan Entrance Counseling and Direct Loan Master Promissory Notes in Colleague student accounts
    • Oversee the receipt of State of Mississippi student grants and financial aid funding
    • Process student transfer monitoring through NSLDS as required by federal regulation
    • Oversee all application and communication flow for financial aid documents
    • Prepare and monitor financial aid exit counseling packages and communications
    • Oversee federal work study community service employment process following college hiring practices
    • Handle routine financial aid inquiries, drop in advising questions, status inquiries and follow-ups by phone, email and in person
    • Maintain student files, following established file document order and file retention policy
    • Order office supplies and maintain supply of financial aid applications, brochures and forms
    • Serve as quality assurance for submitted electronic documents
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration or a relevant field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience
    • 2 years of experience in financial aid
    • Demonstrated professional experience with MS Office suite, hosting virtual meetings, and creating PowerPoint presentations
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work well with others from a broad range of positions, departments and cultural backgrounds
    • Able to work in team environments and individually
    • Detail-oriented, highly organized, creative problem-solver who takes initiative
    • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to varying technological environments

    Physical Requirements

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Manual dexterity needed for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks.
    • Must be able to lift and move up to 15 pounds without assistance.
