Finance Director directs an organization's financial policies, planning, reporting and controls. Oversees all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, risk, tax, and treasury. Being a Finance Director generally is the second most senior finance executive. Requires a master's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent. Additionally, Finance Director may require the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential. Typically reports to chief financial officer (CFO). The Finance Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Finance Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. What Does a Director of FP&A Do?
We're seeking an experienced Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to spearhead budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, and strategic business analysis within our Finance team. In this role, you'll oversee day-to-day FP&A functions, refine company financial planning processes, and develop models and analyses to guide our business decisions. The Director of FP&A will identify and grasp the fundamental drivers of our business, integrating them into operating budgets and quarterly forecasts. Additionally, you'll develop pertinent metrics and conduct thorough variance analysis to monitor business performance, preparing comprehensive reports for senior leadership and our Board of Directors. This position entails leading a team of financial analysts and collaborating with key stakeholders and initiatives across the organization.
Primary Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, modeling, forecasting, and reporting, implementing streamlined financial operations processes.
- Gain deep insights into critical business inquiries and challenges to construct models and analytical frameworks that offer actionable recommendations to business partners.
- Translate financial findings and analyses into compelling narratives for effective communication to stakeholders.
- Oversee the creation and provision of internal business reviews and board presentations, offering proactive insights.
- Develop analytics, processes, and tools to elucidate variances in actual results and predict future financial performance.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and associated analyses.
- Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis, collaborating closely with the executive team to drive growth and foster change.
- Experience with capital modeling, insurance capital requirements, and reinsurance strategy is advantageous.
- Preferably, experience in the insurance industry.
- Management experience in rapidly growing companies, preferably within the insurance sector.
- Demonstrated success in building relationships and collaborating with business leaders to support financial planning and performance measurement.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, coupled with a profound intellectual curiosity and data-driven decision-making abilities.
- Capacity to lead through influence and serve as a team player and "player-coach."
- Proficiency in advanced Excel.
- MBA or CFA qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with Workday Adaptive Planning is a plus.
