Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager plans, develops and manages company policies for adhering to local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Designs and develops facilities, work areas and work procedures. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager directs preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to environmental, health, and safety engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. The Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     POSITION SUMMARY

    The Manager of Environmental Services/Housekeeping provides oversight of the Environment
    Services/Housekeeping department. The Manager will provide assistance to the Director of Environmental
    Services/Housekeeping with implementing and sustaining a fiscally responsible and measurably effective,
    housekeeping and linen program across the hospital. The manager is expected to be a key part of a leadership
    team that produces a clean, hygienic, and safe environment that is patient-centered, sustainable (i.e. employs
    "green cleaning" and integrated pest management), aligned with customer demands, and yields great results
    measured by patient satisfaction scores and internal key performance indicators within the approved
    budget. Responsible for maintaining compliance with policies and procedures, and applicable Federal and District
    regulations to include, but not limited to EPA, DDOE, DOH and OSHA


    Qualifications

    Education/Qualification
    * Bachelor's Degree or commensurate experience required
    * At least two years (2) of leadership experience; leadership in an Environmental Services leadership position preferred
    * Previous experience in a hospital environment preferred
    * Experience working in a union environment is preferred
    * Experience using LEAN or other similar performance improvement methods to transform operations preferred
    * Must complete GWUH Hazardous Materials Training for Generators within 60 Days of hire
