General Summary: Under direct supervision the Associate Dispatcher is responsible for various dispatching and administrative tasks in relation to receiving and transmitting information pertaining to field work schedules. The incumbent will assign emergent and non-emergent work and complete all supporting actions in line with the operations manual. The Associate Dispatcher is also responsible for coordination of communications and information operating a variety of communication equipment including two-way radios, pagers, cell phones, and personal computers to receive, prioritize, schedule and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for service and coordinate internal and external agencies, vendors, and equipment for field crews. The Associate Dispatcher supports field leadership by assessing and recommending field resource adjustments, overtime needs, and communicating with internal/external customers.

Rotating shifts to maintain a 24-hour/7 day a week operation, as well as overtime assignments are required. Storm restoration response within 2 hours will require a 24-hour operation and shifts will be adjusted to accommodate that requirement. During storm restoration, a dispatcher will generally work 12-14 hours straight, with 10-12 hours of rest while they work diligently alongside others to restore power to our customers in a safe and timely manner.Due to the training involved to become fully functional in the Assoc Dispatcher role, there is a 30 month commitment period, whereas, you will be ineligible to apply for another internal job posting during the first30 months (i.e., commitment period).
