The Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) is accepting applications to fill the position of Elevator Inspector. This position provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to conduct statewide re-inspections of operations, installations, construction, maintenance, and repair of elevators throughout the designated field area. The selected candidate will inspect elevators to ensure compliance with the Elevator Safety and Regulation Act and investigate elevator related accidents and damages. The ideal candidate can determine probable causes of an accident and successfully complete detailed reports. The optimal candidate possesses strong communication skills and the ability to interact with the public in a positive and professional manner. As an Elevator Inspector and employee of the State of Illinois, the selected candidate will have access to state healthcare, benefits, and a pension plan.
