EHR Database Report Writer is responsible for data administration, analysis and management reporting from EHR (electronic health record) database. Collaborates with end users to understand reporting requirements and uses Clarity or similar report writer software to create a variety of simple to complex reports using Structured Query Language (SQL) queries. Being an EHR Database Report Writer typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty, Epic/Cerner or similar certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be an EHR Database Report Writer typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. General Statement of Job
The Report Writer Analyst supports the campus by working closely with individuals to develop reports and dashboards to provide support for data driven decision-making.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties- Analyzes and writes detailed descriptions of the organizational reporting needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify current reports or dashboard components.
- Develops complex reports based on the campus ERP databases and ODS data tables and views.
- Develops reporting dashboards.
- Prepares time and cost estimates for completing projects.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Prefer two plus years progressive related experience and/or training required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Use GIT version control to maintain source code.
- Knowledge and experience with Banner Database and ODS reporting views.
- Knowledge and experience with SharePoint, PowerPivot and PowerView, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Report Developer, and Power BI.
- Knowledge of the Higher Education computing environment.
- Requires strong analytical, problem-solving and collaborative skills.
- Requires proficiency in writing program narratives and understanding coding techniques, testing strategies, and application implementation.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to administrators, faculty and staff.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to work in a positive team-oriented manner with a variety of people (students, faculty, administrators, staff, vendors and members of the public).
- Requires the ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
- Requires the ability to use computers for data entry.
