EEG Technician performs electroencephalograms in accordance with established practices and procedures. Attaches electrodes to the patient. Being an EEG Technician records impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brain to obtain data for use in the diagnosis of brain disorders. Provides preliminary diagnostic evaluation and notifies neurologist of results of examinations. Additionally, EEG Technician consults with neurologist to establish requirements for non-standard examinations and determines technical factors to satisfy requirements. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The EEG Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be an EEG Technician typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)
This position's main purpose is to perform Routine and Ambulatory EEGs. This person will also hook up Long Term studies all supervised by a Registered EEG Tech. This is a position for students of an accredited EEG program and/or training on the job to better situate them to graduate and qualify for EEG Technician Position.
