Under general supervision, the Editorial Specialist/Research provides professional guidance and editorial assistance to the Community Environmental Health Program (CEHP) investigators in the development, publication, and promotion of research studies. This position will oversee the establishment, administration, and budgeting of environmental research proposals and contracts, edits and reviews manuscripts, and searches out and interacts with publishers as appropriate. Provides advisement and training for researchers in the effective development and writing of proposals and manuscripts, and designs and implements initiatives and activities to promote research.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Oversees the process of development and writing of NIH P42 Superfund Center Grant research proposals; guides and advises staff in the preparation and presentation of forms and documents, and in the preparation of proposals.
• Provides editorial advice and assistance to investigators in the writing of scientific/research proposals and manuscripts, and reviews copy for compliance with editorial guidelines.
• Design, write, prepare, and publish research findings in newsletter format and announcement materials for the Superfund Center Grant.
• Undertakes editorial research of subject matter as appropriate to augment and/or clarify information contained in proposals or manuscripts.
• Designs, writes, prepares and presents training programs and workshops as appropriate for the Superfund Center Grant.
• Researches, identifies, and interacts with internal and/or external publishers of scientific/technical manuscripts, as appropriate, on behalf of investigators.
• Conceives, develops, and implements creative programs and activities designed to promote and represent the research activities of the unit, as appropriate.
• Represents the NIH P42 Superfund Center Grant at business and native community meetings, as appropriate.
