EAP Counselor coordinates and implements an organization's Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Serves as a knowledgeable resource for employees seeking information and guidance on mental health and wellness topics. Being an EAP Counselor conducts confidential assessments to determine the needs of employees seeking assistance. Provides short-term counseling and support services to employees and provides referrals to external resources when necessary. Additionally, EAP Counselor maintains accurate and confidential records of EAP services provided, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The EAP Counselor occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Provides psychosocial assessments and short-term counseling services for employee population of internal/external Employee Assistance Program for issues affecting job-related performance and/or personal well-being. Evaluates and refers to outside treatment, counseling, or community resources when necessary. Conducts in-service trainings and management consultations. Assists director in organizational development interventions, involvement in committees and special projects. Provides crisis intervention services.
5 years post graduate experience, 2 of which are providing counseling services in the following areas: stress management, grief, relationship/family issues, substance abuse, depression and anxiety.
EAP experience preferred.
Master’s Degree required.
Current NJ-SW license as a Social Worker.
