Distribution Center Manager manages the overall planning, organizing, and operations of a distribution center. Oversees all distribution functions, including order processing, picking, packaging, shipping, and receiving. Being a Distribution Center Manager monitors inventory levels to ensure sufficient levels to fulfill all orders. Balances workloads as needed to achieve production and delivery goals for each shift. Additionally, Distribution Center Manager utilizes software, data, and analytics to optimize operations, track production metrics, and anticipate and resolve problems. Provides the necessary equipment, tools, and training to staff to ensure safe, secure, and efficient operations. Complies with all OSHA and other regulations, policies, safety procedures, and documentation requirements. May evaluate and select transportation or freight services, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relations. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Distribution Center Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Distribution Center Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Logistics Center Manager is responsible for leading people and disseminating a positive team attitude/approach while managing all resources in support of operating the Logistics Center and attaining corporate goals.  This includes:

    • Distribution process improvements
    • Equipment specification, justification, and procurement
    • Schedule execution in pursuit of 100% on time service

    • The fair/consistent application of policies and procedures

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Manage staffing levels for all labor requirements (indirect / direct) for regular and modified work schedules including overtime by job responsibility.
    • Ensure adherence to all customer inventory, value added services, storage and delivery requirements.
    • The purchase (or leasing) & management of required material handling equipment.
    • Project Management as assigned by the Director, Global Logistics & Transportation.
    • The fair and consistent execution of policies with respect to attendance, conduct, work hours, compensation, administration, etc.
    • Planning all resource requirements including human, system, equipment and space.
    • Maintaining proper metrics for tracking historical and current key performance indicators for operation.
    • Creating departmental budgets of $11 million and managing spending accordingly.
    • Be a change agent with coaches and entire DC staff.
    • Communicate effectively with all levels or organization.
    • Hold self-accountable and self-directed while managing warehouse operations.
    • Interpret data and fact-based decision making.
    • Focus on People, Safety, Service, Productivity, and Quality.
    • Departmental safety and housekeeping performance, including accident / injury notification, investigation, primary cause analysis, corrective action implementation and follow-up. Work with Safety Manager to develop safety goals and training program.
    • Ensure service delivery is flawless in execution and achievement of customer service metrics i.e. order delivery accuracy and on-time shipping performance.
    • Appropriate and successful use of technology in the Logistics Center.
    • Provide leadership, direction and support career development to all subordinates.
    • Inventory accuracy and proper cycle counting techniques.
    • General facility maintenance including racking, floor and other stationary equipment.
    • Planning / Managing off-site storage, as required.
    • Support implementation of warehouse executions systems.
    • Maintain positive morale through effective communication and consistent enforcement of corporate policies.
    • Drive performance improvements in the logistics center.
    • Drives continuous improvement projects and culture.
    • Ownership of the design & implementation of e-commerce fulfillment infrastructure.
    • Provide frequent, open communication while maintaining an open-door policy.
    • Communicate performance against the budget. Identify problem areas and implement corrective actions.
    • Ensure best practices are maintained while utilizing industry trend analysis.
    • Performance evaluations for direct reports and support for consistent hourly performance reviews.
    • Identify, justify and implement procedures to improve operational issues & facility throughput.
    • Recommend capital expenditures and perform ROI calculations.
    • Create goals for department that align with the corporate targets.
    • Continually seek process improvement in operations, employees, processes and technology.
    • Implement and take ownership for compliance with standard operating procedures.
    • Promote and foster employee engagement.
    • Responsible to manage 50 people
    • Lean Six Sigma techniques (TIMWOOD)
    • Implement, develop, and negotiate strategic plans.
    • Understand contracts and negotiation.
    • Acquire, influence, and justify ROI on major investments. Present to executive staff.
    • Monitor all cost drivers and improvement targets.
    • Facilitate meetings for DC activities.
    • Develop direct reports to a high level.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Four-year college, business or technical degree. Logistics / engineering preferred.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience with 5-10 years warehouse management / logistics experience.
    • Must have suitable business acumen to understand profitable P&L.
    • Working knowledge of SAP, a plus. Manhattan WMS & TP&E experience preferred.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Intermediate skill level using Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
    • Extensive knowledge of logistics / supply chain systems and practices.
