Discount Brokerage Department Manager manages and leads a group of discount brokers responsible for the purchase and sale of securities for clients at discounted commissions. Develops marketing programs and strategies to increase profitability and enter new markets. Being a Discount Brokerage Department Manager monitors transactions for accuracy and ensures satisfactory customer service. May interact with the organization's full-service brokers as needed. Additionally, Discount Brokerage Department Manager ensures compliance with any applicable regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Requires NASD Series 7 license. Typically reports to a director. The Discount Brokerage Department Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Discount Brokerage Department Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     POSITION SUMMARY

    The Account Manager is responsible for providing customer service by building and maintaining relationships with customers and responding to their needs and expectations. Account Managers are also responsible for soliciting potential business and new business from active customers.  

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

    1. Foster and build relationships and opportunities for stability and long term growth with customers by gaining an understanding of their expectations and specific preferences.
    2. Book freight aggressively, with a sense of urgency, and in a manner that keeps every driver moving daily and eliminates layovers for more efficient and profitable operations. 
    3. Plan ahead by working with the Operations group continuously throughout the day, booking as much freight as possible in advance.  
    4. Proactively identify potential service failures and work with Operations to remedy issues.  
    5. Communicate with customers regarding status updates as required by customers and provide solutions to problems that arise. 
    6. Solicit potential business and new business from active customers through weekly emails and phone calls. 
    7. Enter activity logs in SalesForce for all customer solicitations and sales.  
    8. Enter data into the TMW system accurately and completely.
    9. Understand and actively work with customer-issued scorecards to improve customer service and meet customer expectations.
    10. Regular and predictable attendance.

    OTHER SIGNIFICANTJOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

    1. Update customer websites with shipment information.
    2. Mange carrier scorecards and determine if carrier is qualified to move freight.
    3. Obtain and set pickup and delivery appointments when applicable.
    4. Additional duties as assigned.
    5. Communicate any Customer changes or needs to the entire Operations and Sales teams; serve as the conduit internally for our Customers.
    6. Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations.
    7. Additional duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience

    REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)

    • Ability to work and communicate effectively with others promoting to promote a team environment. Support your coworkers.
    • Listen to problems first in order to gain a clear understanding and provide solutions to Customers. 
    • Thrive in a fast paced, high volume work environment.
    • Possess the ability to accept constructive criticism from both external and internal sources. Learn from mistakes in an effort to improve your professional skills.
    • Possess basic computer skills.

    PREFERRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)

    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel is desirable.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Sit at a desk and operate a computer and telephone for the majority of your shift.
    • Walk the operations floor as needed to communicate with others
    • Ability to stay focused in a busy, loud environment

    WORK ENVIRONMENT 

    • Fast paced and high volume
