Director of International Education jobs in Nevada

Director of International Education leads and directs all aspects of the institution's international programs. Oversees programs, activities, faculty affairs, and academic support services. Being a Director of International Education develops and implements strategies to attract and retain students and faculty. Oversees the operations of the study abroad and foreign exchange programs, the international admissions process, and English language programs. Additionally, Director of International Education ensures that the curriculum remains current and is in compliance with accreditation standards. Monitors the documentation and visa application processes. Oversees the departmental budget and management of expenditures throughout the year. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Director of International Education typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • POSITION SUMMARY: The primary function of the position is to supervise the administration and direction of the Education programs.

    DUTIES:

    • Maintains academic statistics and develops educational programs.
    • Plans and assesses direction of education programs.
    • Prepares and reviews budget proposals and justifications.
    • Monitors contracts and expenditures and completes reports for grant compliance.
    • Oversees Higher Education, Title VII, Johnson O’Malley, Adult Vocational Training, Library, Summer Education Program, Summer Food Program, Tribal Enrichment Program, Assessing Choices in Education (ACE), Library Enhancement, Native Youth Community Program (NYCP) and performs other related duties as required.
    • Work with Administration to write grants
    • Provides guidance and counseling to individual students with emphasis on staying in school, enrolling in college, or a vocational training school.
    • Meets with students in an individual or group setting concerning academic achievement, peer pressure, decision making, and improvement of self-image, self-esteem, values, and communication skills.
    • Meets with public school officials and other agency officials concerning specific problems and/or situations directly relating to YPT students.
    • Coordinates after-school-tutoring activities for students. Make referrals to Human Services as necessary.
    • Works with school, local, and Tribal officials to provide resources that enhance the educational, cultural, and social opportunities for students.
    • Meets with Education Committee regarding planning, activities and fund raising. Provides a monthly report to Tribal Council. Conducts evening and/or weekend educational events as necessary to provide daytime students and parents access to counseling, internet, library, and other educational resources.
    • Always maintains strict parent-student-school confidentiality.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree, in Education preferred or two (2) years of employment as an education counselor, teacher, or similar field. Knowledge of current teaching and guidance methodologies and school curriculum.
    • Ability to plan, organize and manage subordinates’ students and others in their assigned programs.
    • GED/High School Diploma Required
    • Skilled in program budgeting, reporting, and planning.
    • Strong organizational skills in office administration, activity planning and working with children.
    • Highly proficient in verbal and written communications, people skills and computer skills.
    • A self-starter and leader who can work independently, a creative thinker with ability to collaborate with others.
    • Able to lift 40lbs.
    • Possess a valid Nevada driver’s license.
    • Pass Pre-Employment drug screen and background check.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $23.84 - $26.28 per hour

    Expected hours: 40 per week
