Diesel Mechanic jobs in Kentucky

Diesel Mechanic performs inspection, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of diesel engines. Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems. Being a Diesel Mechanic utilizes computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes. Replaces and/or refurbishes parts. Additionally, Diesel Mechanic maintains maintenance logs according to requirements. Ensures services provided follow all quality standards and safety procedures. May perform DOT annual inspections on vehicles. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically requires a Certificate in Automotive & Diesel Technology. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Diesel Mechanic works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     Hours: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

    Job Requirements may include, but not limited to:

    • Perform all levels of preventative maintenance services.
    • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure proper working condition.
    • Perform routine maintenance.
    • Repairing and troubleshooting of major components such as engine, transmission, and differentials.
    • Complete accurate work orders daily.

    Skills and Abilities Needed:

    • Ability to safely drive service vehicles and vehicles in and out of the service area and perform test drives.
    • In-depth knowledge of truck components and systems.
    • Good mechanical aptitude for vehicle maintenance and repair.
    • Must possess necessary tools to preform assigned tasks.

    Requirements:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
    • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
    • Must be able to read and speak the English language.

    Qualifications

    Education
    High School (preferred)
    General Education Diploma (preferred)

    Experience
    3 years: Experience using repair manuals, wiring (electrical) diagrams, and schematics necessary to troubleshoot or repair vehicle or component failure. (preferred)

    Licenses & Certifications
    Commercial Drivers Lic (preferred)
