Diabetes Educator jobs in Alabama

Diabetes Educator educates patients on the necessary lifestyle changes involved in a diabetes diagnosis, including nutrition, medication, physical activity and glucose testing. Collects patient data to monitor health status and proactively manage the patient's condition. Being a Diabetes Educator facilitates skill development and behavior modification so that the patient is able to successfully manage the disease. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent. Additionally, Diabetes Educator typically required to be a Certified Care and Education Specialist (CDCES). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Diabetes Educator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.       • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
    • Experience
      • Preferred Education and experience as follows:

        BSN degree with a minimum of four years of recent clinical nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics, preferably in outpatient setting.

        OR MSN degree with a minimum of three years recent nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics, preferably outpatient setting.

        Will Consider: ADN degree with a minimum of five years recent nursing experience; a minimum of 3 years in pediatric subspecialty preferred.

    • Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
      • Current RN License in the State of Alabama
      • Current BLS certificate required, BLS Instructor preferred.
      • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist” (CDCES) required
      • o Must obtain within 3 years of assuming the role.
