Decision Support Specialist provides guidance and solutions to users working with decision support software and data tools. Assists in the preparation, deployment, and delivery of decision support tools to users. Being a Decision Support Specialist analyzes user requirements and evaluates functionality and configuration options available for existing and new software. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Decision Support Specialist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Decision Support Specialist work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provide analytical operations support using a variety of data sources. Analyze and interpret data to provide information for management decisions.
- Analyze data to identify areas of opportunity, develop proposals and strategies for program development and revisions to existing programs.
- Identify cost control and cost management issues and recommend actions to resolve.

- Responsible for maintaining reporting data integrity by verifying accuracy of data.
- Provide assistance and support in implementing new systems.
Qualifications:
Required:
· Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, healthcare administration or related area
· Five years of prior experience in healthcare finance or healthcare financial analysis to include experience working with hospital clinical/claim and financial data, working with large databases; data extraction and analysis and the a bility to extract data and analyze using a variety of tools including SQL, Access, Excel.
OR
· Ten years of prior experience in healthcare finance or healthcare financial analysis to include experience working with hospital clinical/claim and financial data, working with large databases; data extraction and analysis and the a bility to extract data and analyze using a variety of tools including SQL, Access, Excel
Preferred:
· Master's degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration
· One year of experience with healthcare contract management/reimbursement systems and k nowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies
