Job Summary:
The Decision Support Analyst enhances patient outcomes by supporting performance improvement activities. This person responsible for systematic approach to collecting, aggregating, and analyzing data to support decision making. This person compares performance and incorporates customer feedback to enable intense evaluation of patterns and trends in surgical services. The Decision Support Analyst collaborates with Director of Surgical Services, Manager of Surgery, Specialty Coordinators, Patient Care Coordinators and staff members.

- Demonstrates the aptitude for serving as timekeeper, making appointments and screening telephone calls for the surgical management team.
- Demonstrates the ability to coordinate, schedule and take minutes at designated department meetings.
- Demonstrates technical aptitude for operating telephone, fax, scanner, calculator, label printer and computer.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate and interact with visitors, vendors, employees, physicians and management effectively.
- Maintains current in software skills
- Communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner and adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, i.e. customer service, safety, infection control and compliance standards.
- Provides computer generated reports to respond to Administrative requests.
- Participates in Process Improvement projects for surgical operations.
- Efficiently, uses programs such as Lawson, Docuphase, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and other as deemed necessary.
- Efficient in calculating surgery turnover times and case delays.
- Accurately keep monthly logs i.e. tissue tracking, temperature, IUSS, safety
- Ensures proper documentation related IUSS log and creates data analyzation accordingly
- Timely and accurately keeps up with surgical invoices i.e... Stryker Endo, Leases, Gulf South Lithotripsy, HBC Physicians' invoice, CRNA call invoice, Specialty Care, HBC GI invoices, Medical Director invoice, Anesthesia Call invoice, etc.
- Accurately audits data for reasonableness, investigates variances, and works with surgical administrative team to make appropriate corrections.
- Interacts professionally with various levels of hospital staff, managers, and physicians.
- Demonstrates effectiveness working as part of a team.
- Thinks creatively, anticipates and responds appropriately.
- Orders departmental supplies and equipment as delegated.
- Able to carry out a variety of duties for departments under the supervision of the Director of Surgical Services and Manager of Surgery.
- Proactively seeks opportunities to enhance knowledge and learning towards expertise.
- Maintains all HealthStream assignments prior to the deadline.
- Provides feedback to Surgery Patient Care Manager and Director of Surgical Services regarding patient care, budgetary, and strategic planning opportunities for improvement.

- Works assigned shift and responds when called upon for additional or emergency services.
- Required appropriate use of department's communication app.

Qualifications:
Education/Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Extensive work experience or collegiate studies
- Bachelor degree preferred.
- Minimal of 1 year of previous surgical experience preferred.
Work Experience:
- Experience in Information Systems management functions is required.
- Required to have a working knowledge of data processing systems and data analysis.
- Organization ability and strong communication skills are required.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
Additional Certification/Licensure - obtained based on the required time frame below
- Basic Life Support ( Within 30 Days of Employment Required)
Mental Demands:
Exceptional oral and written skills are required to relate effectively to Hospital and medical staff. The individual
must have the ability to type and be familiar with the rules of spelling, grammar, and punctuation. The individual
must have the ability to use a computer display station, copier, telephone, personal computer, and calculator.
Working knowledge of medical terminology is necessary. The individual must have a high energy level and be
capable of handling pressure situations both mentally and physically.
