POSITION: Dean of Students/Athletic Coordinator
Weir High School -240 day contract - July 1 through June 30 - with days and hours to be determined by high school principal.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Consults with teachers concerning problems; handles disciplining students and confers with parents and students concerning conduct of students involving all athletic activities; assists in matters of school program scheduling; assists in business and other record keeping and report preparation involving athletic activities; supervises students at school; and supervises all co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Athletic duties may extend to Weir Middle School. Schedule hours will be at the discretion of the high school principal. Involved with administration in evaluation process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Appropriate valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate.
Athletic Administrative course work and master’s degree preferred.
B. Evidence of involvement and supervision of student activities and athletic
programs.
C. Sports Management preferred
FUNCTIONS AND REPONSIBILITIES: This individual is responsible for supporting the administration of educational and other programs at the high school and performs related work as required.
Ability to support the administration of educational, co-curricular, and extra-curricular programs at the high school level; ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others; ability to express oneself clearly, both orally and in writing.

- will be responsible for coordinating all school activities and practices.
10. will be responsible for scheduling all extra-curricular events such as athletic
events, music events, drama events, school dances, special needs of clubs
and organizations, banquets, and any other after-school student activities.

will arrange for transportation for all school events as well as lodging and
board when necessary.
- will be responsible for ticket purchases, tickets, and money connected with
all extra-curricular events.
- will arrange for pre-event sales and maintain ticket outlets.
- will see to it that all money is promptly deposited and reports submitted.
- will supervise all after-school events as deemed necessary by the principal
(will attend all home events).
- will be responsible for assignment and payment of athletic officials and all
individuals connected with athletic events.
- will represent the school at all league and other meetings deemed necessary
by the principal.
- will maintain an inventory of all equipment and submit equipment needs to
the administration.
- will be responsible for all physical arrangements for school events, including
sufficient custodial assignments.
- will be responsible for media coverage and for preparation of news releases
for principal’s signature.
- will handle all incidents that may occur at school activities and submit a
written report of such to the principal.
- will receive visiting teams and officials and arrange all necessary
accommodations, including security.
- will be responsible for the purchase of awards for all activities such as letters
for athletics, band members, drama clubs, groups, and will assist with special
recognition assemblies and programs.

will carry out any other assignment related to school activities as deemed
necessary by the principal.
- will secure ticket takers and sellers and arrange their schedules.
- will coordinate activities and assignments of volunteer individuals and
groups relating to athletic events and facilities.
- will inspect home sites prior to events and be responsible for reporting any
needs for maintenance, repair, or equipment to the appropriate individual.
- will be responsible for making necessary arrangements for crowd control and
convenient ingress to and egress.
- will be responsible for monitoring and coordinating all activities undertaken
by the booster organizations, including all fund raising activities.
30. will be responsible for collecting and receiving all physicals and eligibilities
that are made mandatory by the SSAC.
