Data Science Director jobs in Indiana

The Director of Data Science for The Data Mine reports directly to the Executive Director of The Data Mine. The role is responsible for driving the Data Science team’s vision related to the Corporate Partners and Sponsored Research projects as well as the continued evolution of the computational environment and analytical content development paths. The position is the primary instructor for the 1-credit seminar course focused on the foundations of analytics and data science. The Director of Data Science for The Data Mine actively recruits Sponsored Research opportunities and presents about The Data Mine to the wider analytics research community with a focus on driving future collaboration. Research and application for technological grant opportunities are the focus of this position. The position supervises a small team of managers/professionals making up the Data Science team. The Director is the primary decision maker for the hiring paths and priorities as they relate to the Data Science, Corporate Partners, and Expansion teams. In collaboration with the Director of The Data Mine, the expectation is that the Director of Data Science will continue to build out a technical organization focused on seminar project support, data science, data engineering, Sponsored Research, content development, and technical accessibility.

Required:

• Master’s degree in analytics or data engineering-related major (mathematics, statistics, computer science, computer information technology, predictive analytics)
• Six years of relevant experience, (relevant experience may include analytics project management, analytics consulting, undergraduate teaching, or analytics content development, coding Python and R and working with containers)
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
• Must be able to have collaborative instruction of students
• Ability to work with different platforms including but not limited to Python and R
• Clear communication across multiple technical teams or channels
• Knowledge of core machine learning and deep learning techniques
• Encouraging and guiding the development of coworkers and direct reports
• Creating and fulfilling a technical planning roadmap for an organization

Preferred:

• American Sign Language (ASL)
• Agile project management
• Familiarity with SQL, SQLite, PostgreSQL, or Mongo DB
• Working with containers (Docker or Singularity)
• Working in a high-performance computing environment
• Identification and submission of grant proposals
• Developing sponsored research agreements
