Description
We are looking for a Medical Data Entry Clerk to join our healthcare team in Birmingham, Alabama. This role involves entering and updating patient information and medical records into electronic health record (EHR) systems. The candidate will also be responsible for verifying the accuracy and completeness of data from various sources, maintaining confidentiality, collaborating with healthcare providers and administrative staff, and providing general administrative support.
Responsibilities- Enter and update patient information and medical records into EHR systems such as Cerner, Meditech, or EPIC
- Verify accuracy and completeness of data from various sources
- Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to ensure accurate record keeping
- Perform data quality checks and audits to ensure the integrity of the entered data
- Assist in generating reports and conducting data analysis to aid decision-making processes
- Manage and organize both paper and electronic files to ensure easy retrieval and efficient workflow
- Provide general administrative support to the healthcare team, including handling customer service inquiries and claim administration
- Utilize Microsoft Excel and other software for managing and analyzing data
- Adhere to all relevant documentation standards and protocols.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential
- Familiarity with billing functions in a healthcare setting
- Experience in claim administration is required
- Strong customer service skills
- Must be adept at data entry and verification
- Ability to maintain and manage documentation accurately
- Knowledge of Cerner Revenue Cycle is desirable
- Experience with MEDITECH medical software would be advantageous
- Proficiency in using EPIC Rx for data entry and management is preferred
- Prior experience in a healthcare or social assistance setting
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
