  • Position Summary

    The Nursing Director reports to the hospital's VP of Nursing and has 24-hour responsibility for patient care within the hospital. This position is responsible for supporting and modeling a professional culture focused on quality, patient safety, employee engagement, fiscal responsibility, and patient experience and is clinically, administratively, and fiscally accountable for assigned patient care areas. The Director assures that the mission, vision, and values of the health system are consistently implemented within his/her scope of responsibility. The Director facilitates the delivery of care by setting professional standards in an open, creative, accountable, non-threatening and supportive environment. This includes empowerment of staff, providing resources and commitment to trust and respect for all.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide strategic and leadership guidance to the Cardiac Intensive Care unit, Intermediate Care, Intensive Care, Heart Center, and the Emergency Departments.
    • Implement and oversee quality improvement in initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and department performance.
    • Monitor financial performance, identify areas for cost reduction, and implement strategies to improve financial/operational health without compromising patient care.

    Experience

    Position Qualifications

    • Minimum 5 years progressive leadership experience including nursing experience related to area of specialty is required.

    Education

    • Required: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
    • Preferred: Master's degree in Nursing or related field.

    Licensure

    • RN: Registered Nurse by the Oregon State Board of Nursing required upon start.

    Preferred Licensure

    • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN or CCRN-K from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses).
    • Certified Nurse Manager and Leader Certification (CNML) from the American Organization for Nursing Leadership.
