Being a Critical Care Director ensures quality care to patients. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Critical Care Director typically reports to top management. The Critical Care Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Critical Care Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Within the Intensive Care Unit and Pre/Post Cath Lab the Critical Care Director will manage daily activities, develop and implement research based training for staff, provide leadership and guidance to the talented team of RN’s and ensure adherence to Hospital protocols and standards. Monitoring and evaluating unit performance and implementing new policies to improve patient care will also be a part of the Director’s responsibilities.
