    Purpose of the Job

    The Director, Credit Administration is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and administration of the Credit Union's direct consumer lending program and works in collaboration with all delivery channels. Provides direction and guidance to ensure effective management of the Credit Administration Underwriting, Process Fulfillment, and Post-Closing Admin teams. Accountable for implementing, identifying, enhancing, recommending, and monitoring lending strategies and tactics, pricing strategies, and efficient service delivery, while maintaining a member focused service culture and regulatory compliance.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for organizing, planning, and implementing the strategic activities of direct consumer lending and related ancillary products, ensuring programs are in line with overall Credit Union objectives and financial goals.
    • Interacts regularly with the Senior Management Team, Credit Union Managers/Department Heads, and frontline/support employees to ensure overall credit union objectives are achieved and to maximize performance synergy across department lines and delivery channels, particularly as it relates to Consumer Lending, asset performance and related ancillary products.
    • Directly oversees team of consumer lending professionals to include managers and staff and indirectly provides leadership support to other frontline managers/employees to ensure quality of work, smooth service delivery and adherence to the strategic direction of the credit union with the goal of facilitating an exceptional member experience related to the lending function.
    • Provides leadership, guidance, and mentorship to lending leadership to foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and collaboration.
    • Regularly assesses and leverages technological solutions and automation tools to streamline the member and staff experience related to loan origination, underwriting, post-close, and servicing functions.
    • Partners with Product Strategy & Development department on the optimization of consumer lending products, services, and processes to meet the evolving needs of the members and industry.
    • Monitors Key performance indicators (KPIs), service level agreements (SLAs), and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement and drive performance excellence.
    • Manages risk, documentation, and production aspects of Credit Administration for Consumer Lending responsibilities including underwriting, processing, and servicing of consumer non-real estate loan products, including micro business loans.
    • Manages third party vendors related to consumer lending activities on behalf of, and in the name of, the Credit Union. Responsible for vendor management and oversight, including execution of quality control plans and annual reviews.
    • Develops and ensures budgetary controls with consistent department review and implements new methods and procedures to make the programs more efficient and cost effective.
    • Develops and updates policies and procedures, compliance and improvement in all consumer lending functions; conducts research, development and implementation of all Consumer Lending programs.
    • Ensures legal and regulatory compliance; stays aware of regulatory changes and industry best practices proactively.
    • Evaluates credit scoring, risk models, and underwriting criteria to optimize decision-making and manage credit risk effectively. Implements strategies to expand access to credit while maintaining sound lending standards.
    • Reviews portfolio performance, delinquency rates, and charge-offs, and takes proactive measures to address any issues or concerning trends.
    • Assists with gathering and presenting requested documents and data for the annual regulatory examination.
    • Acts as project manager or project lead as needed for areas of responsibility.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Must have strong understanding of standard concepts, practices, procedures, regulations and compliance within the loan origination environment, as well as services offered by the credit union
    • Must have experience with multi-lending channel operations
    • Must have a proven track record of product development and implementation
    • Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
    • Must have intermediate knowledge on Microsoft Excel and Word
    • Must have ability to understand all business processes within the credit union
    • Must have superior interpersonal skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible, compassionate
    • Must be able to motivate employees and build effective teams
    • Must be resourceful and well organized, with strong attention to detail
    • Must have good reasoning abilities and sound judgment
    • Must have the ability to research and analyze various type of data information
    • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation, or government law
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
    • Must be able to work in a general office environment
    • Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required
    • Must be able to complete all assignments with minimal supervision
    • Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant's members

    Physical Requirements

    • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required
    • Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
    • Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds
    • Frequent travel required

    Education and Background

    • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or a related field required
    • Minimum of 7 years consumer lending or related field experience, including leadership roles required
    • Deep understanding of consumer lending products, underwriting practices, and regulatory requirements preferred
