Summary
This is a full-time position that is responsible for analyzing, documenting, corrosion testing including but not limited to, station surveys, bond surveys and inspections. Administering corrosion control program for assigned division; accountable for maintenance of all corrosion facilities for maximum efficiency, compliance and safety. Ensures company corrosion records are kept and maintained according to PHMSA requirements, Company standards and department guidelines. Protecting company assets from corrosion with use of cathodic protection. Oversees corrosion construction projects by performing the following duties. Responsibilities
- Supervises division corrosion control program in order to achieve goals within budgeted funds and available personnel; plans projects and designates accountability for assignments, reviews progress, directs change in priority and schedules as needed to assure work is completed in an efficient and timely manner. Participates in the selection/progression of staff, salary change considerations and disciplinary matters.
- Conducts performance evaluations and provides training and motivation to make full use of individual capabilities and to meet changing system demands.
- Develops and administers capital and maintenance budgets based on staffing and resource requirements, cost estimates, objectives and goals.
- Monitors and documents expenditures assuring compliance with approved budget and staffing levels.
- Investigates corrosion issues in the field through survey work and/or research and may coordinate some activities with other companies and/or vendors when necessary.
- Resolves cathodic protection and interference issues including measures to be taken, as well as any system adjustments. Implements corrective action through corrosion and maintenance personnel and supervises contractor work.
- Coordinates and directs Corrosion Technicians and contracted services.
- Maintain cathodic protection on all of the pipelines and stations.
- Pipe to soil potentials are taken in the field on pipelines on an annual basis at test points, on all of the pipelines and at pump stations; if needed rectifiers outputs are adjusted to appropriate levels.
- Must maintain rectifiers and ground beds and read at least twelve (12) times a year not to exceed seventy-five (75) days.
- Maintain and install remote monitoring systems of some rectifiers. American Innovation (bullhorn RMU) experience is a plus.
- Work with local supervisors and construction crews as new pipelines and facilities are built or redesigned, then design or adjust the existing cathodic protection system to maintain protection of assets.
- Enter all data gathered into computer data base American innovations Pipeline compliance Software (PCS) (CPDM).
- Must be able to work with other employees and third parties.
- Ability to perform, analyze, document, corrosion tests, including but not limited to interrupted (on/off) test station surveys, bond surveys, interference tests, and atmospheric inspections. As well as Close interval survey data (CIS).
- Maintain records in compliance with guidelines set forth by regulatory agencies.
Supervisory Duties:
- Manages subordinate employees within corrosion department.
- Carries our supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies an applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent education with five (5) years of field experience with two (2) years leadership; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Understanding of pipeline construction and station piping with experience and knowledge of different pipeline coatings, close- interval surveys, soil resistive measurements, current requirement testing, ground bed design and A/C mitigation
- AAMP (NACE) CP 2 or higher
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- English language fluency, verbal and written.
- Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
