    Description

    SUMMARY OF POSITION

    The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of foundations and corporations. The position develops and implements strategies to secure corporate sponsorships, manage relationships with corporate partners, and oversee grant prospecting, foundation, state and federal grant relationships as well as the oversight of proposal writing, reporting and stewarding of corporate and foundation prospects. This position plays a key role in supporting the organization's fundraising efforts to achieve its financial goals.

     

    The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of foundations and corporations.

    • Maintain a portfolio of 100 foundations, corporations, and other philanthropic entities. Act as a central point of contact for portfolio prospects and provide excellent customer service and stewardship.
    • Partner with Chief Philanthropy Officer to develop an annual grants and corporate sponsorship strategy, plan and proposal calendar.
    • Work closely with the CEO and Chief Philanthropy Officer to align their corporate and foundation assignments with organizational priorities.
    • Engage in qualification, strategy, relationship building, and proposal development for gifts or grants at the $50,000-level and above. Work with the Chief Program Officer and other Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri program staff to develop effective fundraising strategies that translate into successful proposals and data collection for timely reporting to funders. May include being the primary writer on a grant proposal or application.
    • Develop and implement strategies to secure corporate sponsorships tied to programs and three major fundraising events. Update corporate partners opportunities annually including patch naming opportunities.
    • Supervise and provide leadership to a part-time grant writer. Share supervision of the full-time Development Specialist who oversees a small corporate sponsorship portfolio and provides support grant outreach, stewardship and also reports to the Director of Donor Impact (Individual Giving).
    • Identify, secure, and attend meetings with GSEM leadership with foundation and corporation executives and staff. Host GSEM visits with foundation and corporate representatives.
    • Develop and implement innovative plans for enhancing stewardship of foundation and corporate donors. Provide timely reports of grants from foundations that have made philanthropic gifts to the University.
    • Responsibly document all work with prospects and funders into Raiser’s Edge and Fondant (Grant Hub) in a timely manner.

    The position is full time with a competitive benefit package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as generous paid time off and a retirement plan. Job experience is considered with salary offer; the anticipated starting salary range for this position is $80,000 to $95,000.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and ACCOUNTABILITIES

    1. Investigates and fulfills funding opportunities to meet annual institutional fundraising goals set in consultation with the Director and CDO.
    2. Identifies, prepares, submits, and manages all grant proposals to private foundations, corporate foundations, United Way and Girl Scouts of the USA
    3. Manages and coordinates multi-tiered fundraising proposals for corporations and individuals
    4. Maintains portfolio of donors including cultivation, stewardship and moves management of donors
    5. In conjunction with the Director, CDO and other Girl Scouts leadership staff, oversees full range of activities required to identify, prepare, submit, and manage all corporate sponsorship proposals in support of Council programs and special events, including Girl Scouts Go (November), Dessert First (February), April Showers (April), and Women’s Leadership Network (August)
    6. Oversees and manages corporate sponsorship campaigns (such as special events and annual programs); this may include developing project plans with timelines to coordinate the outreach efforts of fellow Fund Development Team members, CAMO and Chief Executive Officer
    7. Develops or tracks relationships with United Way, corporations, and foundations through periodic meetings with organizational representatives
    8. Collaborates with other departments to produce all interim and final grant reports
    9. Develops, maintains, and grows a list of funders for Council programs, special events and general operating support
    10. Other duties as assigned to assist Fund Development Department and meet Council fundraising goals
    11. Supports organizational diversity and fund development goals of the Council
    12. Consistently demonstrates climate of courtesy, respect and professionalism to staff, volunteers, members, and the general public
    13. Maintains Core Competencies’ standards

    Qualifications


    QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Bachelor’s Degree plus three (3) to five (5) years of non-profit fund development experience or five (5) to seven (7) years of non-profit fund development experience
    2. Three (3) years previous development experience in grant writing preferred
    3. Proven strategic thinking, problem solving and leadership skills
    4. Proven record of excellent oral and written (with emphasis on persuasive writing) communication skills
    5. High attention to detail, high level of organization and deadline driven
    6. Ability to manage a flexible schedule
    7. Ability to travel throughout the jurisdiction to attend meetings during the day/evening/weekend
    8. Proven track record of achieving fundraising goals (input and output) and commitment to performance-based assessment
    9. Proficient at time and process management
    10. Excellent leadership skills and volunteer management skills, including active listening and ability to effectively motivate
    11. Confident, professional, energetic, self-motivated, and ethical
    12. Ability to work independently within a strong teamwork philosophy toward common goals
    13. Proficient in Raisers Edge or similar donor database
    14. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
    15. Understanding and commitment to organizational diversity
    16. Belief in the mission of Girl Scouting

     

    REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    If your position requires that you drive an average of one (1) day per week or more, you must possess a valid state driver’s license and a driving record that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

    1. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
    2. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copier, and computer printer.
    3. May need to move boxes weighing up to 20 pounds across office for various needs.
    4. Must have the ability to observe details at close range and at a distance.
    5. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
    6. Is required to drive/operate an automobile.

     

    EXPOSURES

    Work is performed in a normal indoor environment with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt and/or dust.
