    Position Purpose: The Controller provides leadership and management for the planning, coordination and direction of the financial management, information technology and human resources areas for the Wisconsin Restaurant Association and the WRA Education Foundation. This position is part of the senior team leading the organization.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises and directs the Finance Assistant

    Primary Duties:

    • Oversees day to day financial operations, information technology and human resources areas including relationships with outside vendors and banking institutions
    • Responsible for all accounting and financial activities including monthly financial statements prepared in an accurate, complete, and timely manner.
    • Interprets financial data and works with senior staff, CEO, and the Finance Committee to set financial direction, priorities, and strategy for entire organization
    • Ensures timely filing of all statutory reports.
    • Conducts organizational financial analysis and forecasting
    • Oversees and monitors cash flow position analysis
    • Responsible for budgeting process including development, ongoing monitoring, and year end performance evaluation of yearly budgets
    • Partner in strategic planning, governance, and special projects
    • Partner in the development of new services, revenues and cost containment activities
    • Oversees the information technology solutions for the association in conjunction with the outsourced information technology firm and virtual Chief Information Officer.
    • Responsible for managing infrastructure integration, e.g. financial and accounting platforms, e-commerce, registration, membership database, and other systems that support the organization, in conjunction with our outsourced technology provider.
    • Responsible for benefit administration (including onboarding and offboarding employees), open enrollment and compliance.
    • Oversee preparation of bi-weekly payroll.
    • Oversee administration of 401(K) retirement plan.
    • Prepares reports for and makes regular presentations to the Board and other stakeholders
    • Oversees yearly financial audit and 990 preparation
    • Oversees organizational contracts including terms and renewal options. Works with the appropriate staff who implements the contracts according to their program areas.
    • Oversees WRA Gift Certificate Program
    • Staff Contact for WRA and WRA Education Foundation Finance Committees

    Minimum Essential Requirements:

    • Five or more years of similar experience with a multi-entity tax-exempt organization
    • Expert knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all finance related pronouncements
    • Two or more years of supervisory experience
    • Exceptional communication skills including written and verbal communication, public speaking, and group facilitation
    • Exceptional analytical, problem solving and computer skills
    • Adept at planning, organizing and controlling complex processes as well as analyzing moderately complex financial information
    • Ability to critically think and collaboratively build solutions
    • Ability to recognize and address business opportunities and provide exceptional customer service
    • Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to identify areas in need of improvement and determining practical solutions
    • Flexibility in dealing with changing priorities and demanding workload, and identifying and correcting areas of conflict
    • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and motivate team to do the same
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required. CPA or MBA designation preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and various cloud-based databases
    • Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics GP and Management Reporter
