WHY THIS JOB: CONTROLLER

This well-established electric company in Billings seeks a dedicated Controller to join its team. Stepping into the role previously held by the current CEO and directly reporting to the company owners, the Controller will oversee all accounting functions. This leadership position involves managing a small, dynamic accounting team and ensuring meticulous handling of the company's payables, payroll, and job costing processes. This is an excellent role for someone who loves to give back to the community while working for a company that makes a difference.

What You’ll Actually Do:

• Conduct a comprehensive weekly review of in-house payroll to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations
• Review all AP and AR to verify the accuracy of transactions and maintain up-to-date records
• Organize and process weekly payments, including issuing checks and managing ACH transfers, to ensure timely and accurate payment to vendors and employees
• Compile and prepare comprehensive financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
• Monthly reconciliations of bank statements to ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately and to identify and resolve any discrepancies
• Review and adjust budgets as necessary, ensuring alignment with financial goals and operational requirements
• Lead, manage and mentor the accounting team
• AD hoc as assigned

To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:

• Degree in Accounting
• 4 years of accounting experience
• Leadership/Supervisory experience
• Advanced Excel and ERP Experience – Sage 100 is a plus!
• Experience with Payroll software
• CPA or MBA is a bonus!

• Compensation $100K - $120K Discretionary bonus
