Purpose of the Position

Given our client’s commitment to advancing in technology and becoming one of the most innovative companies in the industry, they are seeking a leader in machine learning, computer vision, and automation technologies that can transform the way phenotypic data are collected and utilized.

Reporting to the VP of R&D, this experienced individual will have strong passion to advance our client’s high-throughput digital phenotyping platform within the genetic improvement program.

This position is a newly created role within the organization, with high visibility at the top level and opportunity to expand scope of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively identify disruptive and innovate digital technologies to improve genetic selection processes for customer success.
• Solve challenging problems by utilizing an ecosystem of sensor technology such as video, infrared, RFID, temperature/RH and others, combined with machine learning algorithms, to measure poultry production, behavior, physiology, health and reproductive traits.
• Explore and analyze unstructured data such as Computed Tomography (CT)/Xray images or ultrasonic images through image processing.
• Evaluate and optimize various computer vision and deep learning algorithms. Develop models to solve industrial problems
• Engage and collaborate with experts across multi-disciplinary fields and organizations to drive innovative technologies.
• Manage immediate need for technology application within the business with a long-term digital platform vision.
• Utilize all evolving digital technologies to asses movement, behavior and health in poultry.
• Develop predictive algorithms from CT imaging of poultry for assessment of body composition and joint health.
• Design, organize and execute projects that lead to development of monitoring tools for automatic detection of behavior, phenotypic and performance traits.
• Utilize existing and new RFID technology to improve the efficiency of data recording.
• Effectively communicate the status and results of research projects to stakeholders.
• The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of statisticians skilled in prediction methodologies using AI and machine learning.
• The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of engineers to design hardware to fulfill data collection needs.

The Candidate

Experience and Professional Qualifications

• Experience and professional qualifications required for the role.
• Minimum of Masters in applied electronics/embedded systems engineering / computer engineering / computer science / electrical engineering / agriculture engineering (or similar).
• Programming experience in one or more of the following: C, C , Python, Java, Matlab.
• An understanding of statistics, signal processing, time series data, and machine learning.
• Ability to work efficiently with large scale, big data.
• Strong project management, communication skills and commitment to working in a diverse team.
• Must be willing to live in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
