Compensation and Benefits Director manages the design, implementation, administration, communication, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures. Ensures that compensation and benefits programs support the organization's business objectives and meet all legal requirements. Being a Compensation and Benefits Director develops and manages compensation and benefits budgets. Oversees compensation processes, including survey participation, job evaluation, salary structure development, base pay administration, incentive plan design and analysis. Additionally, Compensation and Benefits Director manages benefits planning and programs including health and welfare, retirement, and work life. May select and manage outsourced providers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Compensation and Benefits Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation and Benefits Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     The Director US Benefits and Compensation reports to the Senior Vice President of the Global Human Resources & Benefits and Compensation.  This individual will oversee, lead, design, and direct the US Benefits and Compensation practice.

     

    As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the benefits and compensation programs function, this Director architects and drives the strategies to find the very best benefits and compensation structures, working within the budget available, efficiently and effectively. 

     

    This role leads a team of four -five benefits and compensation administrative staff members globally, leveraging technical and functional expertise in agent, corporate/non-agent and executive benefits and compensation programs. This role will also focus on developing innovative programs that drive employee retention and satisfaction. In addition, this leader ensures compliance with US benefits and compensation regulations such as ERISA, FLSA, and HIPAA, etc.

     

    The Director creates and trains the team in best practices, benefits and compensation strategies, guidelines, processes, and standard operating procedures.  This leader will ensure the team goes through functional training and development in order to secure, retain, and develop top talent.  The director will oversee the management of all global benefits and compensation vendor partners. This director will also set and manage to SLAs and service expectations for the team.

    Responsibilities

    • Design, develop, and oversee Benefits and Compensation strategies and programs for agent, corporate, non-agent, and executive benefits and compensation programs.
    • Act as overall Benefits and Compensation subject matter expert for the United States.
    • Design, develop, and oversee all US health & welfare programs.
    • Oversee, manager, and ensure accuracy and compliance for company 401(k) retirement program.
    • Advise on total compensation, and positioning of key roles in the market.
    • Design, develop, and document variable compensation programs for the US, and then globally.
    • Prepare and deliver training to Benefits and Compensation staff, working closely with Learning and Human Resources partners.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant labor laws and regulations benefits, compensation, and retirement plans.
    • Create and maintain Benefits and Compensation processes and the procedures, aligning with the Company’s best practices.
    • Oversee benefits and compensation budget, monitoring closely for fluctuations and reviewing claims experience monthly.
    • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate the most advantageous rates for services.
    • Create compensation workflows, processes, documentation, etc.
    • Build competitive operational bonus programs, recognition & rewards strategies, and incentives management platforms.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required in business administration, human resources or similar field of study, or equivalent work experience. Master’s degree preferred.
    • Six Sigma certification highly preferred.
    • Credentials such as the CHRM, SHRM, or SPHR/GPHR or equivalents preferred.
    • 10 – 15 years of experience working in Benefits and Compensation and Human Resources as a discipline.
    • 10 - 12 years of progressive experience as a Benefits and Compensation and Human Resources Manager and Director.
    • 10 years of experience as a Benefits and Compensation and Human Resources leader in high-volume hiring and attrition benefits and compensation programs in the BPO industry.
    • 5 – 7 years of experience in managing benefits and compensation programs vendor relationships and tools.
    • Demonstrated skills in coaching and developing employees to drive team performance and outputs.
    • Proven, demonstrated strong problem-solving and innovation skills. Strong analytical skills.
    • Demonstrated business savvy and acumen to partner in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Proven demonstrated experience in balancing people-facing concerns with the business imperatives, while making sound recommendations and exercising good judgment.
    • Proven ability to develop and to execute strategic action plans.
    • Proven ability to develop strong business relationships and navigate complex environments and work in matrixed environment.
    • Proven ability to influence others at all levels of the organization.
    • Demonstrated ability to adapt practices and techniques to changing priorities and issues and provide proactive, effective change management and leadership.
    • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills including strong verbal and written communications skills, presentation skills, facilitation skills, and influence and negotiation skills.
    • Advanced computer skills with demonstrated ability to use a variety of programs including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook with the ability to assimilate, present, and analyze data as needed.
    • Knowledge of federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations regarding benefits, health & welfare, retirement, and compensation programs.
    • Ability to travel, domestically and internationally, as may be needed (travel generally less than 25%).
