OVERALL JOB PURPOSE
The Community Relations Specialist is a motivated, high energy, creative, and experienced individual driving community outreach and engagement for the credit union. This specialist is responsible for coordinating and developing sustainable and meaningful relationships with community-based organizations, the credit union’s broader community, and existing and potential members with the goal of increasing the credit union’s viability and positive impact within the community. Responsible for planning and executing community and educational events and assisting with the execution of various corporate events. Oversees the volunteerism efforts of the credit union. Contributes to the marketing and communication of events, charitable efforts, and other corporate outreach as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Events:
Plans and executes community and corporate events in coordination and by direction of the SVP Marketing.
Attends and coordinates volunteer efforts for events
Purchases and manages inventory of event materials and promotional items.
Develops and delivers financial educational presentation material.
Networking:
Attends events to network with community and municipal organizations with the purpose of further credit union objectives.
Cultivates and manages relationships with community organizations, including chambers, boards, Kirtland AFB, and more.
Develops and coordinates community outreach programs, including financial education programs, and special events that positively influence public opinion or promotes products, services, or perception of the Credit Union.
Public Relations:
Write and submit press release and marketing materials to media outlets.
Write, post, and publish social media content for events.
Participate in interviews and respond to community inquiries.
Field, analyze, and respond to requests for donations and charitable contributions/participation in accordance with credit union community guidelines
Creative:
Collaborates and contributes to the creation of various marketing materials, including flyers, banners, digital, and more.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong organizational skills, coupled with the ability to handle multiple priorities, set schedules, and adhere to project deadlines, are essential for success in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to work effectively and productively both independently and as part of a team, exhibiting a high degree of attention to detail, exceptional organizational and prioritization skills, and the capacity to work cohesively towards shared goals in a team environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent listening skills and customer service attributes.
Ability to present and speak in front of a crowd.
Ability to initiate and lead work and establish relationships.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be comfortable writing professional emails.
Adept at all basic computer programs (Microsoft Office).
Social media marketing experience
Photography, videography, and graphic design skills preferred (Adobe Creative Suite)
Work schedule flexibility. Requires some early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
Requires local and regional travel for meetings/programs/education. Reliable transportation is required.
Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
2 years of experience in marketing, public relations, or communications fields.
