Represents the institution within the community and is a resource for information about products and services that are available. Additionally, Community Development Representative adheres to all operational procedures and complies with Community Reinvestment Act and other regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Community Development Representative occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our team!

    Downstreet is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Financial Controller to help Downstreet with all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budgets and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal financial control policies and procedures. The Controller is responsible for supervising and overseeing the accounting team.

    Key Responsibilities

    Oversees the operations of the accounting department, achieving the department’s goals and objectives.

    Oversees the accounting for federal and local grant programs as well as construction accounting for affordable housing projects.

    Generates financial reports in compliance with GAAP standards, local, state, and federal government requirements and tax filings as well as internal reporting for management.

    Generates and manages the annual Budget. Conducts budget variance analysis, quarterly reporting for all Fund accounts, and financial analyses as needed.

    Oversees accounts payable and accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and cross-trains into payroll processing.

    Coordinates all audit activities.

    Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures, including controls over accounting transactions and management of the Chart of Accounts.

    Ensures compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.

    Experience and Education

    ● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with five years of accounting and supervisory experience

    ● Non-profit and grant management accounting experience preferred

    ● Experience with affordable housing and/or construction accounting preferred

    ● Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn relevant financial management software

    ● Highly organized, with strong written and verbal communication skills, active listening skills, and problem-solving abilities

    ● Commitment to equity and inclusion, and social and economic justice
