The Director of Client Sales & Marketing, MSPC plays a crucial role in the success of our B2B branded content business. This highly visible position involves diverse responsibilities and frequent interaction with various internal and external stakeholders, including advertisers, sponsors, partners, members and leadership. The Director works closely with the VP of Media Sales at MSPC and senior leadership to set and achieve brand objectives, collaborating with other MSP departments to advance the brand, grow the business, and produce a top-tier publication and digital content.
This role demands strong skills in personal communication, promotional writing, project management, negotiation, and presentation. Experience in selling across multiple media channels is essential. As part of the company’s revenue leaders’ group, the Director will share insights and strategies with peers to optimize sales, marketing, research, digital, and event tactics, thereby enhancing revenue generation and profitability. Strategic planning, budgeting, and representing the magazine to advertisers, prospects, and members are also key aspects of this role.
Scope & Responsibilities:
- Revenue Management: Oversee and grow revenues for a vertical trade publication, its digital channels, and events through the sale of marketing solutions (print & digital), event sponsorship opportunities, corporate memberships, and other emerging revenue streams.
- Collaboration: Work with other staff to develop, launch, and maintain revenue-generating programs and projects, including the creation of competitive information, media kits, sell sheets, market research, client proposals, and presentation materials.
- Budgeting: Assist in setting and managing revenue and expense budgets and support the launch of new products and services.
- Sales Strategy: Develop and execute sales strategies, manage daily sales operations, and monitor sales and marketing expenses to achieve and exceed budgeted gross profits.
- Relationship Management: Build and nurture relationships with key business partners and prospects, understand competitors, and successfully sell against them.
- Internal Collaboration: Coordinate effectively with internal departments such as editorial, art, research, database, digital, production, finance, billing, creative marketing, and credit.
- Content Development: Contribute to shaping special sections, editorial calendars, and special projects to meet the needs of stakeholders and marketing partners.
- Support Management: Oversee sales and marketing support activities through the Project Manager and Creative Marketing Staff.
- Representation: Represent the magazine at events as invited.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
Experience:
- 5 years of demonstrated success in media sales and/or B2B sales, with a track record of driving revenue growth and achieving sales targets.
Skills:
- Skilled communicator for client presentations, both one-on-one and in group settings.
- Experience in B2B sales and creating measurable business results through holistic marketing strategies.
- Strong understanding of marketing products and customized solutions-based sales approaches.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with key customers, decision-makers, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and CRM systems.
