Chief Nurse Anesthetist manages and schedules Nurse Anesthetists who plan, arrange and secure necessary anesthesia equipment. Aids Anesthesiologist in organizing courses of instruction for students, and partakes in resulting programs and demonstrations. Being a Chief Nurse Anesthetist prepares reports and compiles data dealing with specific anesthesia, drugs and techniques, and patients' reactions to them. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Chief Nurse Anesthetist requires Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Job summary: 

    Administers anesthetic care for the purpose of facilitating diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical procedures. Credentialing process typically 2-3 months.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Work with American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Category 1-3 patients only, requiring only Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC) and NO general anesthesia.
    • Administer Propofol sedation for low risk, standard outpatient gastrointestinal procedures.
    • Performs and documents a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient.
    • Develops and implements an anesthetic plan of care, including monitoring modalities and post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care.
    • Selects, obtains and administers the anesthetic plan of care, including induction, maintenance and emergence phase anesthesia.
    • Recognizes alterations in physiologic responses to the surgical procedure and/or the anesthetic, takes appropriate action and notifies the responsible physician as indicated.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Complexity of Work:

    • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Requires full range of motion; manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
    • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time and the ability to lift and transport patients.
    • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
    • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
    • Ability to work under extreme pressure.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

     

     

     

     


    Required Skills:
    • Graduate of accredited CRNA program.
    • Must have a current AZ licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA).
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.

     

    Pay Range: Full Time - $120-130/hr (plus benefits), PRN - $175/hr, Contract - $1,500 per day

     

    USPI complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce.  If you are offered this position and must be vaccinated under any applicable law, you will be required to show proof of full vaccination or obtain an approval of a religious or medical exemption prior to your start date.  If you receive an exemption from the vaccination requirement, you will be required to submit to regular testing in accordance with the law. 

     

    *Sign on bonus paid in 2 installments (half at 90 days and half at 6 months).
