Chief Financial Officer is responsible for developing an organization's overall financial policies. Provides strategic direction of all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, insurance, tax, and treasury. Being a Chief Financial Officer ensures that proper financial controls are in place and that financial transactions support the overall business strategy while conforming with applicable laws and regulations. Requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Chief Financial Officer may require the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential. Typically reports to chief executive officer (CEO) or chief operating officer (COO). Responsible for the development of functional or business unit strategy for the entire organization.     • Collaborate with the executive team to formulate and execute strategic and operational business plans, initiatives, and systems.
    • Contribute to the establishment and execution of both short-term and long-term business objectives, policies, and operational protocols in tandem with the executive team.
    • Engage with business units to furnish assistance for their initiatives through insightful financial and managerial information analysis, reports, and recommendations.
    • Uphold robust internal controls and ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant federal, state, and local regulatory statutes and regulations for financial and tax reporting.

    Background Expectations

    • BS/MBA in Finance or Accounting--CPA highly preferred
    • 10 years of progression through financial leadership roles--mining and construction background preferred
