Chief Financial Officer is responsible for developing an organization's overall financial policies. Provides strategic direction of all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, insurance, tax, and treasury. Being a Chief Financial Officer ensures that proper financial controls are in place and that financial transactions support the overall business strategy while conforming with applicable laws and regulations. Requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Chief Financial Officer may require the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential. Typically reports to chief executive officer (CEO) or chief operating officer (COO). Responsible for the development of functional or business unit strategy for the entire organization. The Hospital Chief Financial Officer will bring a high level of skill and knowledge to a diverse department with a variety of responsibilities. The CFO will work towards goals that increase the profitability and overall growth of this health system. The Chief Financial Officer will develop detailed initiatives and will implement plans which support effective budgeting and accurate financial planning. The Chief Financial Officer will work directly with the Chief Executive Officer and will lead a team who is responsible for the accurate management of accounting, payroll and the hospital’s long term growth.
The Hospital Chief Financial Officer should have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or an equivalent degree and will also have impressive leadership experience in healthcare finance. The ideal candidate will also have their CPA and strong leadership skills. These skills are key in successfully providing thoughtful financial guidance to this health system.
