    Position Summary:

    The Revenue Charge Capture Analyst reports directly to the Director of Patient Financial Services and works cooperatively with the revenue cycle team. The analyst is responsible for ensuring all appropriate billing charges are captured, documented, charged, and reimbursed for the assigned department(s) in accordance with policy and procedure, and all applicable regulatory standards and requirements. This position requires an understanding of coding and charging principles to accurately capture charges.

    Position Accountabilities:

    • Works with clinical departments in the assignment of charges utilizing appropriate and current billing and coding guidelines.
    • Captures charges accurately, timely and within compliance standards, verifying facility level calculations, IV medication administration, procedures, and supplies.
    • Review of medical record documentation and verification/editing of data in the Epic facility calculator, IV, intramuscular and subcutaneous medication administration, procedures and supplies provided to clinical patients.
    • Reviews documentation and works with clinical staff to capture start and stop times for IV medications within clinical departments.
    • Works closely with clinical departments, nursing staff, Physicians/Providers, and Management to capture appropriate documentation; must possess knowledge of data analysis techniques to include data collection, display, and analysis.
    • This position requires up-to-date knowledge of federal and state regulations that pertain to reimbursement, collection, and reporting guidelines.
    • The analyst is accountable for compiling highly confidential and sensitive information that must be accurate.
    • The analyst must work cooperatively with other health care professionals.
    • Will be trained to assist the Revenue Cycle Analyst and duties pertaining to that position.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Position Qualifications:

    Education – Required: Graduate of accredited school of Practical Nursing. Current registration with the Ohio State Board of Nursing; or 5 years’ clinical experience working in an Emergency Room, Med/Surg, or other similar hospital setting.

    Education – Preferred: Graduate of accredited school of Professional Nursing. Current registration with the Ohio State Board of Nursing.

    Minimum Experience: 5 years’ experience working in an Emergency Room, Med/Surg, or other similar clinical hospital setting.

    Preferred Experience: Knowledge and experience with EPIC; knowledge of CPT and ICD coding.

    Competencies Required: Evidence of high motivation, self-direction and the capability to gather data, making sound, mature decisions. Knowledge of various software packages – knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Office Suite required. Demonstrates highly developed written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills with orientation to detail and accuracy. Ability to relate effectively with clinical department personnel and other non-clinical departments. Multitask oriented.

    Physical Demands: Physically and emotionally able to handle stressful situations, heavy workloads, deadlines and occasional irregular hours. Close mental and visual attention to details. Ability to concentrate for long periods of time while dealing with distractions. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Must be able to stand and walk for significant periods of time. Position requires coordination, corrected vision, hearing, legible writing, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and/or climbing. Must be able to lift ten (10) pounds in weight above shoulder level for filing purposes.

    The position requires the successful completion of pre-employment screenings after an offer of employment has been made. The position requires the employee to be free of all unlawful substances and alcohol.

    Work Environment: Office environment. Occasional unpleasant and/or stressful work-related situations.

    Work Schedule: Revenue Charge Capture Analyst normally works an eight (8) hour shift during daytime hours. Must be willing to work according to hospital needs.
