Category Manager develops the overall strategy for a product category and researches new product options in the category to drive sales and achieve targets. Leads a team that provides category insights and proposals by analyzing marketing and customer data and monitoring relevant market conditions. Being a Category Manager works closely with sales team to determine optimal pricing through analysis of sales trends, competitors, buying habits and planograms of products to promote sales opportunities. Provides effective promotional materials. Additionally, Category Manager may develop special arrangements with vendors to enhance product promotions. Requires a bachelor's degree of marketing. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Category Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Category Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. It will require being proactive with generating actionable insights from Luminate Shopper Behavior, Luminate Channel Performance, syndicated data and internal data sources. This is a non-advised position and you will work closely with the sales team. In this role, you will: Employ critical thinking and proactively derive insights to identify issues & opportunities. Leverage multiple data sources to create impactful selling stories that identify risks, opportunities, and performance gaps such as assortment, distribution, size, incrementality, placement & shelving. Elevated data analysis beyond reporting and translate insights into action. Optimize the physical and digital shelf utilizing the latest omni-insights from multiple data sources. Develop strong working relationships with the merchants and cross functional partners. Proactively analyze data and create actionable insights for the category, consumer and shopper. Analyze business trends & identify the drivers of those trends on a continual basis while proactively recommending solutions to issues or identify potential opportunities. Stay current on shopper trends, assortment opportunities, competitive activity, and promotional trends to contribute to the customer planning process. Develop presentations & present to the merchant & internal cross-functional teams on topics such as category reviews, shopper insights, business reviews, etc. What we look for: 3 years’ experience in CPG category management Bachelor’s degree required Being proactive and curious are required to be successful in this role.
