Job Purpose
The Dispensary Assistant Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining Guest Services, oversees and is accountable for the operation of the dispensary ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandise, inventory, expense control, and managing operating costs. The Dispensary Retail Manager will also oversee a team of budtenders, team leads, and assistant store managers.
Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Ensuring that each guest receives outstanding guest Service by providing a guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of Guest Service
- Overseeing all day-to-day operations of the dispensary
- Ensuring appropriate merchandise stock levels, merchandise adjacencies and presentations, signage, and assortment in all departments; ensuring selling floor is adequately stocked
- Working closely with the inventory team to ensure proper levels of product
- Reviewing department/store trends, recommending, and initiating changes for maximizing goals and objectives
- Ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and state regulations through regular store management, staff meetings, store walk-throughs, and audits
- Provide ongoing coaching, development, and feedback to the team
- Working with Human Resources on performance management and employee related issues
- Performing other duties as assigned
- Prepare and effectively lead state inspectors through unannounced inspections
- Maintain records for all necessary documents: delivery and inventory manifests, nightly and monthly inventory counts, necessary employee and patient/customer information, logbooks, inventory adjustments and destruction reports
- Schedule and coordinate meetings

- Participate in recruitment and dismissal processes
- Smooth out problems within the workplace

- Develop strategies for better workplace efficiency and goal achievement
- Email and phone correspondence
- Liaise between managers, customers and employees
- Provide direction to staff
- Monitor spending patterns and budget
- Fill in for Management in times of absence. Make decisions, hold meetings, and provide accountability.
- Troubleshoot POS system.
- Support ongoing learning and development of team members.
- Help create and foster a respectful and inclusive team environment.
- Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to obtain proper badging as required by the state
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 - 5 years of retail experience
- Cannabis experience a plus
- Experience using Metrc preferred
- Ability to communicate with associates and guests
- Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
- Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock area, and register area
- Ability to work varied hours/days to oversee store operations

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements
- This job operates in a professional office environment and in retail locations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- This position is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms, some computer and typing use is required. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 50 pounds.
- This position will be required to adhere to all current Covid19 safety regulations that are in place including but not limited to: wearing a mask, using hand sanitizer, social distancing, etc.
