CAD Drafter jobs in Ohio
CAD Drafter utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) software and other techniques, standards, and tools to prepare technical drawings. Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CAD Drafter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a CAD Drafter typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Responsibilities
- Liaise with architects and engineers to gather product and structural requirements and designs.
- Calculate dimensions, weight limitations, and requirements in materials.
- Describe production methods step-by-step, including equipment and software types to be used.
- Create detailed designs with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Design diagrams, maps, and layouts to illustrate workflow.
- Prepare and review rough sketches and review them along with the engineering team.
- Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality.
- Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards.
- Create manuals that describe existing products' operation, features, and maintenance.
Qualifications
- Proven work experience as a Drafter or similar role.
- Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling tools.
- Good math skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Degree or Certificate in Engineering or Drafting a plus.
- Associate degree (Preferred).
- AutoCAD: 3 years (Preferred).
- Microsoft Excel: 1 year (Preferred).
- Autodesk Inventor: 3 years (Preferred).
Compensation
Salary: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour
