Business Development Manager manages the daily execution of the business development strategy, plans, and processes to drive sales, increase revenue, expand markets, and accomplish financial objectives. Coaches teams in best practices and effective tactics for prospecting new markets, partners, channels, and customers. Being a Business Development Manager establishes team targets and metrics to measure the achievement of objectives. Develops and uses contacts and relationships within the industry, business environment, and customer base to understand and respond to competition, pricing, and product demand changes. Additionally, Business Development Manager makes suggestions for new product offerings or improvements to sales or marketing efforts. May administer or negotiate new business proposals and prepare contracts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Business Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Business Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Summary: Develop and maintain customers within the geographic territories of the United Association of Pipefitters Local 248 (Ashland) and Local 452 (Lexington). In addition, develop and maintain external fabrication customer relationships, using best practices and standards, to deliver the most favorable revenue and gross profit levels while building and maintaining strong relationships with our subcontractors, vendors, and internal partners.

    Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

    Lead by Example:

    • Document upcoming opportunities and status of quoted work to share weekly.
    • Coordinate closely with the Dyer Process & Industrial Division Leader and Fabrication Shop Management Team to ensure both the field and the shop have the capacity and ability to perform the jobs being quoted
    • Assist Process & Industrial, Fabrication and Estimating Teams with estimates and lead the proposal delivery requirements
    • Assist Dyer Process & Industrial Project Managers and Shop supervision with any issues so that they are properly resolved
    • Ensure customer relationships are being properly managed by personnel
    • Assist Management Personnel and Accounting with billings to ensure timely and accurate submission and payment
    • Assist Management personnel with Change Order preparation, negotiations, and execution


    Build Lifelong Partnerships:

    • Develop relationships with new targeted customers to support Process & Industrial work and well as external fabrication growth.
    • Manage existing and new relationship to maximize targeted opportunities including visiting/communicating with customers in a regular, intentional process.
    • Attend specific industry events to maximize our exposure to upcoming fabrication opportunities


    Act with Integrity:

    • Monitor industry/market trends and report findings on a regular basis
    • Monitor customer trends and needs and report findings on a regular basis
    • Assist in modification of Dyer's strategy for external fabrication based on trend analysis


    Put People First:

    • Become the example at Grote Enterprises on how to treat co-workers by listening better, encouraging them and respecting their efforts
    • Be a mentor to coworkers on how to quickly build trust with customers


    Challenge the Ordinary:

    • Search for opportunities in areas that are atypical of our normal procedures


    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products.
    • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.
    • Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously.
    • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of market area.
    • Excellent written, verbal and organization skills


    Physical Demands:

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.
