Job Description
The Insurance Review Lead is responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of the Insurance Review staff and ensuring timely and accurate filing of appeals on denied or rejected claims.
Job Relationships- Reports to the Insurance Review Manager
- Assist Insurance Review personnel with daily responsibilities, workflow assignments, time management, payroll approval, and day-to-day leadership duties as assigned by the manager.
- Assist the Manager in staff hiring, evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
- Maintain employee schedules and approve time off requests.
- Monitor productivity and provide feedback to Manager and team members.
- Gather, analyze and report information related to insurance due balances as requested by Manager, Director, and other Management or providers.
- Explain EOB's, claim form processing and State and Federal laws governing billing practices.
- Organize and conduct team meeting/training sessions, and one-on-ones with team members on a regular and consistent basis.
- Provide training and orientation for staff.
- Serve as a role model for staff, exhibiting a positive, respectful attitude toward others.
- Attend and participate in required meetings and committees.
- Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
- Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
- Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
- High School graduate or GED required; college degree preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years working with database software and/or Microsoft Excel required.
- Prior experience working in a medical billing environment required, preferably including experience with claim submission and review of rejected/denied claims.
- Two (2 ) or more years of experience in a leadership/supervisory role preferred.
- Previous experience researching coding questions or prior coding training preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of computer systems and/or experience in installation/implementation of software programs preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and supervise staff required.
- Strong organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and the ability to explore and learn a variety of software programs with minimal assistance necessary.
