Ephemrial, a HudsonAlpha Associate Company developing seaweed based bioplastics, is seeking a skilled and dedicated biochemist to join our team at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology. Our mission is to create truly biodegradable seaweed-based bioplastic materials that can replace single-use plastics and be mixed with common plastics for various applications.
Responsibilities:
Optimize existing bioplastic formulas and samples to meet industry standards and client requirements.
Collaborate with the CEO and other team members to drive R&D initiatives.
Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless project progression.
Conduct experiments, analyze data, and report findings to support product development and improvement.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in bioplastic technology and apply relevant knowledge to enhance our products.
Requirements:
Proven experience in biochemistry, preferably with a focus on bioplastics or related fields.
Strong understanding of polymer chemistry and material science.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic R&D environment.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Material Science, or a related field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).
Work Schedule and Compensation:
3 days in the lab at HudsonAlpha per week, with shifts ranging from 4 to 8 hours depending on the task.
Initial 45-day contract, with the opportunity for renegotiation based on performance at the end of the period.
