Bindery Technician performs various machine and manual operations to complete print binding and finishing processes. Completes tasks including measuring, cutting, collating, inserting, folding, stapling, or gluing to produce finished bound products. Being a Bindery Technician sets up, operates, tends, and maintains bindery equipment. Inspects equipment for malfunctions, troubleshoots and resolves problems. Additionally, Bindery Technician follows all required quality and safety procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Bindery Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. JOB PURPOSE
Machine helpers assist in the set-up and operation of Bindery folder/gluer machines, following guidelines set in the job ticket. Successful machine helpers are motivated to succeed and work well in a team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Machine helpers load and unload printed material from the folder/gluer machines and assist the operator to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of their equipment while following company policies and procedures. The Machine Helper follows guidelines set forth in the job ticket. Responsibilities also include:
· Reading job tickets
· Following SOPs and instructions
· Loading and unloading product on machines
· Packing boxes or palletizing goods
· Moving skids
· Check for quality
· Handle printed material
· Maintaining adequate levels of supplies in the department
· Maintaining a clean work area & removing waste
· Follow safety policies and procedures, including those related to SQF certification and OSHA
· Maintain good attendance
Additional responsibilities as required.
EXPERIENCE
Two years of experience in machine operating or working with your hands is preferred but not required.
SHIFT
Night Shift ((M-Th, 3:00pm-1:00am). Overtime is often available.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 18 years old. Must be able to read and understand written and verbal instructions in English. Must have reliable transportation. Must work well with others.
