Overview
Keller Management Services is seeking a Senior Benefits Supervisor based out of our corporate office in Hanover, MD.
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Benefits Supervisor to join our dynamic HR team as part of our North American Corporate Team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in benefit plan design, open enrollment, policies, and compliance, leave management and compensation related to 409A and 401(k). This role requires a strong understanding of multi-state regulations and large organizational operations. Experience with Canadian provincial benefits and RRSP is preferred. Experience in the construction industry is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
1) Benefit Plan Design and Management:
- Design, implement, and manage comprehensive benefit programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, wellness programs, and retirement plans.
- Evaluate and compare existing benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys, and other sources of information.
- Develop specifications for new plans or modify existing plans to maintain competitiveness.
2) Open Enrollment:
- Oversee the annual open enrollment process, including planning, communication, and execution.
- Prepare and distribute materials for benefit orientations, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions.
3) Policies and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations (e.g., ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, ACA).
- Develop and maintain benefits policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with plan documents and regulatory requirements.
4) Compensation and 409A Compliance:
- Administer compensation programs including executive compensation and incentive plans
- Ensure compliance with IRC Section 409A regulations.
- Provide guidance on compensation matters related to deferred compensation and equity plans.
5) 401(k) and RRSP Plan Administration:
- Oversee the administration of the company’s 401(k) and RRSP plan.
- Manage plan audits, compliance testing, and annual filings (Form 5500).
- Coordinate with external auditors and third-party administrators.
6) Medical Leave Management:
- Manage medical leave policies, including FMLA, short-term disability, long-term disability, and other related leave programs.
- Provide guidance to employees and managers on medical leave policies, procedures, and eligibility. Ensure compliance with varying state and provincial leave requirements.
7) Multi-State and Large Organization Management:
- Manage benefits across multiple states and provinces, ensuring compliance with varying state and provincial regulations.
- Handle benefit issues and inquiries from a large and diverse workforce.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to address and resolve benefits-related issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in benefits administration, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of benefits laws and regulations including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, ACA, and 409A.
- Experience managing 401(k) plans and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience in benefit plan design and open enrollment processes.
- Familiarity with multi-state benefit and provincial administration and compliance.
- Familiarity with provincial benefits administration.
- Prior experience in the construction industry is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration software. ADP WFN is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or similar certification.
- Experience with union and non-union benefit plans.
