Bankruptcy Specialist is responsible for the documentation and filing of loan bankruptcy materials with the appropriate attorneys. Ensures full compliance with loan bankruptcy regulations. Being a Bankruptcy Specialist monitors accounts throughout the loan bankruptcy process and contacts appropriate party when necessary. Verifies the bankruptcy is secured and acquires a copy of the proposed Chapter 13 Plan on all secured accounts. Additionally, Bankruptcy Specialist captures Chapter 7 reaffirmation agreements to management for approval. Distributes account balances and interest rates to the secured and unsecured balances. Stays current with changing state specific bankruptcy laws. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our legal team in providing exceptional legal services. Duties:
- Prepare and draft necessary documents for bankruptcy proceedings
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, and contracts
- Maintain and organize physical and electronic files
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and court dates
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information
- Transcribe legal documents and correspondence accurately
- Handle clerical tasks such as answering phones and managing emails
Requirements:
- Office experience at a minimum, put would prefer prior experience working as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role (bankruptcy experience is preferred; or at least a willingness and/or ability to learn)
- Strong people skills and ability to handle the public
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of bankruptcy preferred, but knowledge of criminal law, probate, and/or personal injury is a plus
- Ability to transcribe legal documents accurately
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with phone etiquette in a professional setting
