We are seeking someone who is dedicated and compassionate about Special Education. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. Your role will involve developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), collaborating with other educators and professionals, and creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet the unique learning needs of each student
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, including math, language arts, and science
- Utilize behavioral therapy techniques to address challenging behaviors and promote positive social skills
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure the successful inclusion of students with special needs in the general education setting
- Monitor student progress through ongoing assessment and data collection
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagement and success
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in special education
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and behavior
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field
- Valid VA teaching certification in Special Education, or working to obtain teaching certification
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with behavioral health challenges
- Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional strategies for students with special needs
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other professionals
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children
